CHLOE’S STORY
Chloé Temtchine wears many hats: she is an award-winning singer, songwriter, speaker, and the creator of “Super Brave,” a series that spotlights stories of children and adults battling chronic illnesses.
Chloé's personal journey stands as a testament to the human spirit and resilience. She battled Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) and Pulmonary Veno Occlusive Disease (PVOD) for 12 years. Her challenges culminated in 2020 when she suffered a cardiac arrest. After four days in a coma and nearly a month on ECMO (life support), Chloé received a life-saving, double-lung transplant. The surgery was performed at UCLA by the extraordinary Dr. Abbas Ardehali.
Rewind…. In 2013, as Chloe was wrapping up an album with Grammy-nominated Greg Camp of Smash Mouth and preparing to embark on a world tour, life took an unexpected turn. She was rushed to the ER due to congestive heart failure. She was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and Pulmonary Veno Occlusive Disease (a subsection of PH), a rare and severe lung condition, and was given days to live. Despite the doctor’s grim prognosis, Chloé chose to fight.
For five years prior to that, her health had remained a mystery. Multiple diagnoses, from pulmonary embolism to sarcoidosis, clouded her health journey. One doctor even suggested psychiatric consultation. But Chloé's story isn't about misdiagnoses or her time in critical care; it's about her zest for life and where she is today.
Seizing her second chance in 2013, Chloé structured a new lifestyle around five pillars: Nutrition, Exercise, Mindset, Creative Expression, and Quality Time with Loved Ones. This approach not only improved her health but also propelled her music career. Despite singing with a paralyzed vocal cord and always having her oxygen tank (affectionately named Steve Martin) by her side, she has released four albums since: “Be Brave,” “Strangers,” “Lead Me Home,” and “You Save Me.” Her song "Be Brave" garnered over 150,000 downloads within its first 90 days.
After her transplant in August 2020, Chloé's mission expanded to include advocating for PH awareness and promoting the importance of organ donation. Some of her achievements in music include winning the Avon Award for "Best Song," presented to her by Fergie, and several awards for her songs “Be Brave” and “Breathe.” As a speaker, she has inspired global audiences, including entities like Johnson & Johnson, UCLA, Transplants For Children, One Legacy, and Bloomberg Television's C-Suite. Her humor, unique perspective, and unwavering compassion position her as a beacon of hope for many.
Her non-profit, The Chloé Temtchine Foundation (TCTF), epitomizes her dedication to inspire and to uplift. Through the Foundation, she's initiated projects like The Smile Tour, which involves performing for pediatric patients across the U.S., bringing them smiles and hope. Looking ahead, her 2024 Smile Tour and continued work with Super Brave Kids promise to push on with empowering children facing life’s most difficult challenges.
Fluent in French, Spanish, and English, Chloé has always excelled in communication. Expressing herself without reservation, she created "The Oxygen Sisters,” alter egos that communicate life lessons in a comedic and enjoyable manner.
Chloé is the recipient of the PHA Inaugural 2014 Chloé Temtchine Be Brave Award and the Tom Lantos Innovation in Community Service Award. She is held in high esteem by her peers in the music industry and has collaborated with numerous Grammy award-winning songwriters such as Toby Gad (John Legend, Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson), Guy Roche (Christina Aguilera), and Sasha Skarbek (James Blunt), among others.
Chloé's appearances include Hallmark’s Home & Family, The Doctors (CBS), The Nate Berkus Show, Fox 4 News, and CNN. She's been highlighted on KTLA three times, and performed on Late Night with David Letterman, Fearless Music (FOX 5), and Fox 5 News. Furthermore, she's the voice behind the national commercial celebrating the 100th anniversary of American Express. Her narrative has graced platforms such as Shoutout LA, LA Weekly, Thrive Global, Huffington Post, Daily Mail, New York Post (twice), and Digital Journal, to name a few.
Understanding intimately the essence of life and thriving in spite of overwhelming challenges, Chloé believes in a mix of perspective, gratitude, faith in a higher power, retaining one's sense of humor, and dedicated effort as the key ingredients to reclaiming personal power.
A sought-after motivational speaker and performer, Chloé is hired by global brands and multinational pharmaceutical firms such as Johnson & Johnson. She often performs at private "invitation-only" events.
